Going on holiday abroad used to be something to look forward to, where you would dream about laying on a beach, below blue skies with a cool drink to hand, weeks before you are due to go. This cosy image has been replaced by the thought of having to drive on the M1 to get to East Midlands airport for example, and the thought of the disasters, which often happen, on this busy motorway. If one lane is closed the queue can quickly become 5 miles long and add an hour to your journey or in the worst case you miss your flight altogether.

Getting to the airport is only the beginning, now you have to navigate yourself around the terminal and even if you know where you are going this can be a stressful exercise especially in the dark as you, along with many others are checking signs and moving lanes to ensure you arrive at the right car park for the right terminal. To combat this heartache, I simply book Manchester airport car parking as an example at one of the vast number of secure off airport car parks that are close to the airport and let them transfer you outside the required terminal. Whichever airport we use means a lengthy drive and if we are able to take extra time off work we usually come down the day before at a laboured pace, stop of for some lunch and for instance book East midlands airport hotels with parking we avoid all the heartache of travelling against the clock and it certainly is the easy way to travel.

I always feel better once I have got my tickets, gone through security both of which, after additional security seems to take longer each time I travel, and I am sitting airside. The journey to the airport and parking is in my opinion the worst part about travelling abroad.
